The long awaited Patagonia Reunion took place in the Stroud Valleys as the team set out on a so-said more leisurely stroll in aid of The Meningitis Now Charity. It was so good to see so many familiar faces over the weekend and great that so many people had travelled from far afield in order walk for this worthy cause and of course to catch up with what everyone was doing six monthe post-trek.
The weekend kicked off with a wonderful meal at The Lamb at Eastcombe, which was well co-ordinated by Gulam, so many meal choices…but fab food all round.

Meeting time on Sunday was 8.15am and a well turned out group met to start the walk at Wycliffe Junior School. Registration and bacon rolls sorted, we eagerly embarked on The Five Valleys walk, following our map and directions to the organised checkpoints. We are easy to spot as most of us have worn our tangerine t-shirts in support of the Charity.

Couldn’t help but fall in love with Mark’s Dog Max, what a star!

THe company was great, the weather not too bad (although we did get soaked on a couple of downpours) but the 21 miles up and down Five Valleys is quite a walk, make no mistake. Towards the end, your feet hurt, people are getting tired and there is a push to complete the circuit before the finishing deadline of 5.30pm. Happy to say I made it, but have paid all week with sore feet and aching legs but I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and looking forward to the next reunion – did someone say Alaska?
