Today was a fun day with my niece Selina and three of her four children. We visited Coaley Peak for an ice cream and to take in the  spectacular view across the Severn Valley to Wales. We then ventured down to the play trail at Woodchester Mansion, where we explored the woods and the adventure obstacles along the way.

The play trail took us rather longer than expected as we had to explore all the slopes and try out all the items set out along the trail. The boys had great fun looking for bugs and insects, playing on the trail appartus and investigating the vast woodland area. The two favourites were the zip wire and the rope swings. It is hard to image that two grown-ups could make so much noise on a zip wire when the children made none!! I guess we are just the biggest kids of all, or maybe we are heavy and went sooo much faster!!!

By the time we had reached Woodchester Mansion it was closing, so much to the disappointment of the boys we never got to see inside the magnificant unfinished structure of the house or view the Greater and Lesser Horseshoe bats in the loft via the live video feed. We will just have to return another day and this time we aim to reach the lakes and boathouse.

An excellent place to take the children for a fun afternoon or even day!
